St Mary's

St Mary’s Church, Westbury

Client     The Vicar and PCC of St Mary’s, Westbury

Date       2003

St Mary’s north aisle roof is a thirteenth-century structure of significant importance. However, after significant water ingress and deathwatch beetle attacks, its structural integrity was at risk. Ad hoc repairs throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries had done little to improve the situation.

Arrol and Snell oversaw the completion of an award-winning repair to the oak roof structure, reinstating the early scheme that had been covered by a barrel vaulted ceiling by the Victorians.

The work was completed on time and under budget, leaving remaining funds available for repairs to the tower.
