The practice currently employs 14 people, consisting of 5 Architects, 5 Technicians and Architectural Assistants and 4 Secretarial/Administrative support. The administrative functions of the office are controlled by the Office manager and we also work closely with a Quantity Surveyor and Cost Consultant Practice.

Since 1980, The practice has gained a good reputation for high quality repairs and conservation work and for sensitive new-build and infill projects in historic locations. Shrewsbury enjoys good modern rail and road links and there is rapid access to all parts of the country. Our commissions extend from Scotland to the South-East of England.

Andrew Arrol has had a life-long experience of historic building repair and conservation work and has been involved with many demanding projects with Grade I, Grade II or Scheduled monument status. He has worked on buildings of many different periods, styles and construction methods and is particularly conversant with all aspects of the repair and conservation of medieval masonry structures.

Andrew is thoroughly familiar with archaeological principles, procedures and with recording and surveying processes including in-depth quinquennial inspections and reports and the preparation of conservation plans. He is an active member of many of the professional associations and amenity societies that concern themselves with the philosophy and developIng technology of good repair and practice.

He is familiar with statutory Cathedral and Church Consent practice procedures and with all aspects of liaison with Cadw, English Heritage and Lottery Distributors. He is fully conversant with grant application procedures and methodologies and is closely involved with fund-raising and publicity initiatives for many of his projects.

He also has particular experience with the design and construction of new build and infil schemes in sensitive, historic locations and is familiar with the normal process of feasability studies, developing design proposals and producing high quality artists perspectives and illustrations (in-house) for consultation and application purposes. He has good general communication skills and undertakes a considerable amount of lecturing as well as contributing to academic journals.
