Arrol & Snell has designed a housing complex on the site of Shrewbury's former Gay Meadow football ground. The carefully remodelled terrain is to form a series of platforms above flood level.  The new housing will consist of mainly of three-storey terraced townhouses, arranged around communal open spaces directed towards the river.  Three-storey, four-storey and five-storey apartment blocks are arranged along the eastern side of the site, flanking a new crescent-shaped spine road giving access to individual parking areas and small 'streets' that separate the terraces flanking the open space.

Aiming to achieve a medium to high density development, the site is to remain low-rise by adopting a traditional urban form that is a natural extension of Shrewsbury’s eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth-century housing stock, whilst being made specifically relevant for this important site in the town centre.
