The practice has undertaken the careful regeneration of a large and important complex of Grade II* mill buildings dating from the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries – consisting of both timber-framed and cast-iron framed buildings. The conversion of the mill buildings has resulted in the provision of 72 one-, two- and three-bed apartments, of which 18 units are to provide a social housing element in conjunction with Moorlands Housing Association.

The proposals required careful consideration of all aspects of the viable conversion of the historic buildings, including a careful study of all structural and mechanical aspects. Lengthy negotiations have been carried out with all amenity bodies including English Heritage, SPAB, the Georgian Group and the Victorian Society. The project is now complete and includes extensive landscaping; conservation of 18th & 19th Century machinery and interiors and the provision of community facilities.
